Heat causes Deffenbaugh to begin trash collection at 6 a.m. next week

The extreme heat now is affecting trash collection.
Deffenbaugh Industries announced Thursday that curbside trash pick-up would begin at 6 a.m. next week. This will occur on Monday and Tuesday, July 23-24, in Bonner Springs. According to company spokesman Tom Coffman, the company worked with city and county officials to alter the collection times out of concern for the health and safety of route employees.
The waste removal company will call customers whose phone numbers are in its system, and they will also put into place some system to pick up trash that might not be out by 6 a.m.
