Road project comes in under budget

September 26, 2012

The Edwardsville City Council learned Monday that the 110th Street/Edwardsville Drive project would be completed under original cost projections.

The council approved a series of change orders that Mike Webb, city administrator, explained were necessary only to correct payments for the various phases of the project. The total project cost, he said, would be $1.4 million, about $127,535 under budget, despite some contingencies for soil stabilization.

The council approved the change orders 4-1, with Council member Chuck Adams voting in opposition.

In other business, the council:

• Approved remanding the issuance of off-site advertisings of signs/billboards back to the planning commission.

• Heard from Board of Public Utilities officials about the BPU Smart Meter Project.

• Approved payment of bills totaling $223,256.

• Approved minutes from the Sept. 10 meeting.
