Edwardsville council plans special session on solid waste program
The Edwardsville City Council will have a work session to discuss a new trash program at 6:30 p.m. Monday, preceding its regular 7 p.m. meeting in the council chambers at Edwardsville City Hall.
The current agreement between Deffenbaugh Industries, the city's trash service provider, is set to expire next year, and city staff has been reviewing service options.
The council will discuss the possibility of instituting a curbside recycling program for residential customers. A pilot program was conducted earlier this year, in which residents in certain Edwardsville neighborhoods were given trash and recycling bins, and a survey of residents involved in the program showed mostly positive feedback.
The council potentially could vote to move forward with a new solid waste contract during its regular meeting.
