25 Years Ago: June 28, 1990
The Basehor Park Association finalized plans for a Fourth of July celebration. Activities included a parade and fireworks show.
JR Nolting announced his resignation as a member of the Bonner Springs-Edwardsville Board of Education.
Ernst Ulmer, nationally-known Bonner Springs’ artist, had a showing of his paintings at the Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame.
The Rev. David Watson was the new pastor of the Bonner Springs United Methodist Church
50 Years Ago: June 28 - July 1, 1965
Farris V. Roberts and Ralph Bryan were candidates for mayor of newly incorporated city of Basehor.
Inter-State Federal was leading the Bonner Springs Girls Softball League with a 4-0 record. Stephan’s Standard was second with a 3-1 mark.
Tony Dusil, chief, said the Bonner Springs Fire Department was in desperate need of day-time volunteers.
The Northeast Kansas Beekeepers’ Association announced plans for its annual Honey Queen Contest. Mrs. Louis Hollenbeck and Mrs. Clifford Saxby were accepting entries.
100 Years Ago: June 24, 1915
The Basehor Queen Esther Circle held a successful ice cream and strawberries social.
The Kansas City Area Epworth League held its convention in Bonner Springs with 101 in attendance.
A charter was approved for the new Piper State Bank. The new facility was chartered with assets of $10,000.
The pipe organ at the Christian Church was repaired and ready for worship services. The work was done by Mr. Johnson.
