Edwardsville seeks help for 100th birthday
Edwardsville officially became a city of the third class in July 1915, and the city now is asking for residents' help commemorating the milestone.
The city plans to create a scrapbook of Edwardsville throughout the years, and residents or former residents are asked to contribute pictures or documents. The items can be brought to City Hall during business hours through Aug. 14 so they can be scanned digitally and returned to the owner.
Additionally, at the Edwardsville City Council's July 27 meeting, there will be a small celebration to mark 100 years since the first “village” meeting, which was held on July 30, 1915.
Finally, the City of Edwardsville’s 100 Year Celebration will be held on Sept. 19 at the City Park. For more details of the celebration, go to the city’s website at edwardsvilleks.org or call 913-441-3707 ext. 10.
