Lady Braves finish 7th at KVL championships
The Bonner Springs girls track and field team finished seventh at the Kaw Valley League championships on Wednesday evening at Basehor-Linwood High School, scoring a total of 16 points.
Mill Valley took the title with 180 points, and Lansing finished as the runner-up with 123.5, and Basehor-Linwood took third with 120. Piper (66), Tonganoxie (65.5), Bishop Ward (19) and Turner (10) rounded out the field.
Jonita Francis led the way for the Lady Braves, finishing third in the 100-meter dash (13.20) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (27.75). Teammate Shaunie Lanning took fifth in the javelin (95-11).
Julianne Jackson took sixth place in the long jump (15-01.75), and Bonner Springs’ 4x400-meter relay team also took sixth (4:35.83). That team was comprised of Francis, Jackson, Carletta Hill and Alyssa Driskill.
