Bonner Springs girls take 5th at KVL swimming
The Bonner Springs girls swimming team took fifth place at the Kaw Valley League championships on Wednesday evening, finishing with a total of 35 points.
Lansing (86 points) won the league title, and Mill Valley (76), Turner (48), Piper (46), Tonganoxie (10) and De Soto (0) rounded out the field.
Robyn Lewis led the way for the Lady Braves, taking second place in the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.15) and third place in the 500-yard freestyle (6:07.28).
Maddison Stumbough also had a strong showing, finishing fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:28.89) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:14.58).
The Lady Braves’ 200-yard medley relay team of Stumbough, Lewis, Amber Lies and Alayna Dooley took fourth place with a time of 2:12.32. Bonner Springs’ 200-yard freestyle relay team of Karly Brungardt, Brenna Holt, Bailey Pierce and Morgan Lawrence took fourth with a time of 2:11.68.
The Lady Braves’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of Lies, Stumbough, Dooley and Lewis finished fourth with a time of 4:30.27. Dooley took fifth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:06.07), and Lies finished sixth in the 500-yard freestyle (7:15.77).
