Meetings seek input on K-32 corridor's future

November 12, 2015

Government officials are asking the public to give input on the future of the Kansas Highway 32 corridor in Wyandotte County.

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kan., along with the cities of Bonner Springs and Edwardsville in coordination with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) and Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), are beginning the K-32 Tri-City Multimodal Redevelopment Plan in Wyandotte County.

They are hosting two public meetings next week, including one in Bonner Springs, and online commenting at K32.digicate.com through Dec. 11 to gather public input on the vision, challenges, opportunities, and outcomes for the plan.

The meeting in Bonner Springs is set 6-7:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at South Park, 246 Shadyside Ave. The other meeting is planned 6-7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Community Meeting Room in the Midtown Metro Center, 849 B N. 47th St., Kansas City, Kan.

Each public meeting will begin with a short presentation. The public will be able to review detailed project exhibits that show the K-32 corridor area, which runs from N. 57th Street on the east to the westernmost limits of Bonner Springs on the west. The information presented at each meeting will be similar. Representatives from the Tri-Cities, MARC, and the consultant team will be present to answer questions and discuss issues or concerns.

The K-32 Tri-City Multimodal Redevelopment Plan is funded through MARC’s Sustainable Places Program. The planning process will continue through the summer of 2016.

For more information about the plan, contact Stephen Lachky, Transportation Planner, MARC, at slachky@marc.org or 816-474-4240.
