10 Years Ago: Nov. 24, 2005

Members of the Basehor Park Board and Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for a new park.

Both Bonner Springs and Edwardsville planned special ceremonies to light community Christmas trees and to start the holiday season.

Del Coleman was nominated as the new president of the Bonner Springs’ Rotary Club. Dean Buhrle was chairperson of the nominating Committee.

The First Christian Church of Bonner Springs was displaying a massive collection of Nativity scenes owned by Pastor Margi Colerick.

25 Years Ago: Nov. 22, 1990

The Bonner Springs-Edwardsville Chamber of Commerce was sponsoring a Christmas Decorating Contest and a visit by Santa Claus to meet children at the bandstand in Kelly Murphy Park.

Winners in the Bonner Springs Voice of Democracy contest were: Steve Rundus, first; Ted Miller, second; Tonya Cole, third; and Andrea Miller, fourth.

Returning lettermen for the Basehor-Linwood High School wrestling team were: Donald Seitter, Jason Langford, Jeff Mason, Scott Leonard and Mickey Bartko.

50 Years Ago: Nov. 18, 1965

Ken Brewer was elected president of the Tri-County Rod and Gun Club

The Boy Scout Troop at Sacred Heart Catholic Church was reorganized with Wilbur Brown serving as Scoutmaster.

Seniors named to the Basehor High School honor roll were: Maureen Berry, Jerry Kay Boggs, Connie Moses, Joyce Nance, Charlotte Trowbridge and Joyce Poggemayer.

Lyle Yazel, Bonner Springs, was named to the All-EKL football team.

100 Years Ago: Nov. 18, 2015

A.A. Gregory reported two horses were stolen from his farm.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Atkisson sold the Riverview Hotel to Mr. and Mrs. Hilliard.

The Bonner Springs Merchants defeated the Lawrence Cardinals 33-0. The Merchants scheduled a Thanksgiving Day game against Gardner at Lake of the Forest.

Farmers in the Basehor area were reporting corn yields of 50 to 60 bushels per acre.
