Running game powers Braves past Chanute
The Bonner Springs football team improved to 2-0 this season with a 45-0 home victory over Chanute on Friday evening at David Jaynes Field.
The Braves racked up 502 yards of total offense, including 301 on the ground. Quarterback Connor Byers led the way, rushing for 177 yards on just 10 carries. Running back Marcell Holmes did his part as well, collecting 116 yards on 16 totes.
Byers finished 7-for-19 passing for 161 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Michael Amayo caught four passes for 99 yards and a touchdown, and Holmes caught two passes for 65 yards and a score.
The Braves will be back in action at 7 p.m. next Friday as they travel to take on Kaw Valley League rival Basehor-Linwood.
