Violet Laverne Smith 1920 - 2010
Graveside services for Violet Laverne Smith, 90, formerly of Basehor, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kan.
Mrs. Smith died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at the Carmel Hills Health Center, Independence, Mo.
She was born Jan. 18, 1920, in North Platte, Neb. She was raised by her adopted mother, Willa Cox.
Her husband of 45 years, Francis Caldwell Smith, a son, Wayne Smith, and two grandchildren preceded her in death.
Survivors include six children, Beverly Cookson, Independence, Mo., Joyce Conn, Bonner Springs, Mary Blankenship, Versailles, Mo., David Smith, De Soto, and Bob Smith and Teresa Smith, both of Kansas City, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
The family suggests memorials to Carmel Hills Health Center or Cross Roads Hospice, sent in care of the funeral chapel, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112.
