Dorothy Mae Treff 1930 - 2007 Basehor

Dorothy Treff, 77 of Basehor, Kan., passed away Dec. 13, at the Shawnee Gardens Nursing Home, Shawnee. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Dec. 16, at the Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee, Leavenworth. Funeral services will be held at St. Martin Evangelical Lutheran Church, 13849 Hollingsworth Rd., Kansas City, Kan. Burial will be at Mt. Muncie Cemetery in Leavenworth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Martin Evangelical Lutheran Church, or the Basehor Historical Society, 2812 N. 155th St., Basehor.
Dorothy was the daughter of Alfred and Velma Meyer. She was born Feb. 20, 1930 in Basehor. She graduated from Basehor High School in 1947. She is susvived by her husband of 49 years, Albert Treff.
She was raised on the farm originally homesteaded by her grandparents. She and Albert made their hope and operated a dairy farm on the same land. Together they raised their family on the same homestead, and her children all survive her: Jan Brigham of Ottawa, Dennis Treff of Topeka, and Gregory Treff of Ottawa.
Doroty was a lifelong active member of St. Martin Evangelical Lutheran Church. In her 77 years she served her church as a Sunday school teacher, committee woman, and organist for numerous years.
For 27 years she owned and operated Treff Tax Service in Basehor. She was an accomplished businesswoman, seamstress, quilter, gardener and organist. Dorothey enjoyed traveling with her husband in their fifth-wheel trailer, and made many friends as a member of the Carri-Lite Wheat State RV Club. She was known for her wam, cordial personality.
Others who mourn the loss of Dorothy include her sister Helen Marie Desmond, of Mareno Valley Calif.; brother and sister-in-law Fred and Alta Treff, Piper; daughter-in-law Marci Treff of Ottawa; granddaughter Carrie Treff Brigham of Wichita; grandson Matthew Joseph Treff of Colorado Springs, Colo., grandson Loren Barnett and wife Kersten of Lansing; grandson Jessee Barnett of Ottawa; great-granddaughter Taylor of Lansing; great-granddaughter Chole of Ottawa, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, godchildren, her church familiy, friends and neighbors.
