William C. Hollander Kansas City, Kan.
Services for William C. Hollander, 87, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 18, at Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Hollander died Tuesday, April 15, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Kansas City, Kan., and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a graduate of Wyandotte High School, and served in the Coast Guard during World War II.
Mr. Hollander was employed with Armco Steel for 44 years before he retired in 1985. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union.
He was an active volunteer at Bethany Medical Center and with the Boy Scouts and was an honored recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.
His wife of 58 years, Geneva, died Aug. 1, 2001.
Survivors include two sons, Gregory, Encinitas, Calif., and William G., Kansas City, Kan.; two daughters, Lynn Hollander, Kansas City, Kan., and Julie Burnett, Edwardsville, Kan.; a brother, Robert, Escondido, Calif.; a sister, Anna Lu Brune, Kansas City, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call on the family from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday, prior to the funeral.
The family suggests memorial to the Heart of America Boy Scout Council.
