Owen V. Paxton 1953 - 2009

Ottawa — Services for Owen V. Paxton, 55, of Ottawa, Kan., will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 6 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Mr. Paxton will be cremated after the services. Private family inurnment will be at Central Cemetery, Pomona, at a later date.
Mr. Paxton died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., surrounded by his family.
He was born Dec. 11, 1953, in Taos, N.M., the son of George and Ferne (Wiley) Paxton.
Mr. Paxton grew up in Parkville, Mo., later moving to Bonner Springs and Ottawa in 1989. He graduated in 1971 from Bonner Springs High School.
In the 1970s, he worked as head syrup cook for Richardson’s Corp. in Bonner Springs. He later worked 12 years as a furniture refinisher for Antique and Furniture Refinishing in Johnson County and as a metal fabricator for Fashion Inc. of Ottawa, in 2001.
On June 9, 2006, he married Carla O’Connor in Ottawa. She survives of their home.
Other survivors include his mother, Ferne (Wiley) Paxton, Kansas City, Kan.; a daughter, Melissa Mears, Flippin, Ark.; two stepdaughters, Airen O’Connor, the home, and Dawn Good and husband, Chris, Garnett; a stepson, Dustin O’Connor, Ottawa; three brothers, Dennis Paxton and wife, Theresa, Pomona, Steven Paxton and wife, Mary, Denver, and Brian Paxton and wife, Jean, Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Shawn Paxton, Kansas City, Kan.; and three grandchildren.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday until the service hour at the morturary, where the family will meet with friends at 5:30 Friday prior to the services.
