Clarence Irvin "Van" VanBeber 1929 - 2009 Bonner Springs

Services for Clarence Irvin “Van” VanBeber, 80, Bonner Springs, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at Victory Assembly of God, Bonner Springs. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan.
Mr. VanBeber died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Olathe Medical Center.
He was born July 8, 1929, in Clearfork, Okla., the son of Pat and Fannie (Hamblen) VanBeber.
Mr. VanBeber grew up and graduated from high school in Greeley, Colo., and soon after moved to Kansas City, Kan. He was retired from the Kansas City Star, where he had been an official in the Printers Union. He had been a member at Victoria Tabernacle in Kansas City, Kan.
At the time of Mr. VanBeber’s death, his son-in-law, Bob, and he were restoring a 1929 Model A Ford.
In 2002, he married Joanne Leininger and moved to Bonner Springs. Together they attended both Bonner Springs United Methodist Church and Victory Assembly of God.
He had married Jean Crabb in 1951, and she died in 1999.
A daughter, Roxanne Finlay, died in 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne, of the home; two daughters, Debby Marmon and husband, Bob, and Sue Russell and husband, David, all of Bonner Springs; a son-in-law, Phil Finlay, Topeka; two sisters, Mildred Ballard, Sun City Center, Fla., and Marilyn Smith and husband, Keith, Johnstown, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Susan Leininger, Bonner Springs; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.
