Helen 'Virginia' Miller 1924 - 2011

Services for Helen “Virginia” Miller, 86, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Maywood Community Church , Kansas City, Kan. Burial will be at the Bonner Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Miller died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at home surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at Maywood Community Church.
She was born, Feb. 25, 1924, in rural Wolcott, the daughter of William (Bill) and Melva Haas. She graduated from Piper High School.
In 1943 she married her sweetheart, Howard F. Miller, who had told his first-grade teacher that he was going to marry her. They had 67 years of dancing with one another. Virginia enjoyed hand quilting quilts during the winter months with Howard cutting her blocks for her. In the summer she gardened and generally enjoyed life. She was an active member of the Maywood Community Church “Ladies Council” and was the “official” church pie baker.
A son, William Alan Miller, and a grandson died earlier.
Survivors include her husband, Howard; a daughter, Joyce (Jerry) Cunningham; a son, Kenny Miller (fiancée Sharon Richards); a sister, Wilma (Bob) Wise; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Maywood Community Church or the Sister Servants of Mary, sent in care of Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, 214 Oak St. Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
