Services for Jeffery Franklin Pierce, 57, were Friday, July 8, at Highland Park Funeral Home, Kansas City, Kan.
Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Basehor.
Mr. Pierce died July 4, 2011, in an accident involving in a fall from a deck.
He was born July 10, 1953, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Raymond and Lovona Pierce.
Mr. Pierce graduated from Washington High School in 1973 and was a lifelong Kansas resident. He was a member of the Laborers Local 1290 and worked for John Rohrer Construction Co. for many years.
He also worked for a lawn service owned by a family friend for several years.
Mr. Pierce loved to be outdoors, was an awesome gardener and a true lover of all animals. He could train animals like no other, including an old hen trained to fly up and sit on a person’s shoulder.
A son, Jason, died earlier.
Survivors include his son, Matt (Delana) Pierce; daughter-in law Christina Pierce; and five grandchildren; his mother, Lovona Pierce; brothers Jim (Sue) Pierce and Ray Pierce; and sister Shelia (Dave) Wheeler.
