Muriel Jared 1921 - 2011 Bonner '

Services for Muriel Jared, 89, Bonner Springs, will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 27, at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bonner Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Jared died Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at her home.
She was born Sept. 25, 1921, in Antonito, Colo., the daughter of James Arthur and Edith Thomas. She graduated in 1942 from Mount St. Scholastica in Atchison, with a degree in mathematics. Mrs. Jared received a master’s degree in math education from Kansas University. She taught for 35 years in the Basehor, Edwardsville, Turner and Bonner Springs public schools. She retired from Bonner Springs High School in 1985 after 20 years of teaching math.
After retiring, she was a founding board member of Vaughn-Trent Community Services, serving as treasurer for 21 years. She stayed active in education by tutoring many Bonner Springs children.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Meyer, and her second husband, Orvel Jared.
Survivors include three children, Andrea Staudenmaier, Larry Meyer and Gene Meyer; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at the funeral home.
