Sammie F. Kinnaird 1925 - 2012 Linwood

Sammie F. Kinnaird, 86, of Linwood, KS passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center. Funeral services will be 11 am, Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Alden – Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS with burial to follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery. Friends may call at the visitation from 10 to 11 am, Friday morning prior to the service at the funeral home. The family has suggested memorial contributions to Compassionate Care Hospice in care of the funeral home.
Mr. Kinnaird was born on May 4, 1925 in Cookeville, TN and moved to this area in the early 1940’s. He was a WW II U.S. Army veteran and after returning home worked for many years as at Commercial Lithograph as a Lithographer printing cards for Hallmark. He was a longtime member of the Bonner Springs Baptist Church. He was a big fan of the historic Oregon Trail traveling it several times and he enjoyed being a “historian” for his family. He was enthusiastic about his dairy cows and horses winning awards with his son at the fair. He was preceded in death by his son Mark Samuel Kinnaird in 1987. And is survived by his wife of 62 years Lois Kinnaird of the home, 1 brother Donald Kinnaird of Sparta, TN and 1 sister Katie Von Trump of Lees Summit, MO as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends that will all miss him dearly.
