Merna “Nan” Lee Wallace 1928 - 2012 Linwood

Merna “Nan” Wallace age 83 of Linwood, KS and previously of De Soto, KS passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 3, 2012 while surrounded by her family at her home. Graveside Funeral Services were held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 7, at the Mt. Sidney Cemetery in Linwood, KS. A visitation was from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Nan was born on July 14, 1928 in Lillis, Kansas the oldest of three daughters born to William and Gladys (Cain) Weinert. She had worked at Hercules Ammunition Plant in De Soto. Nan and her husband Dick Wallace moved to Linwood from De Soto in 1973 and together owned and operated the “Town Tavern.” More recently she had worked at “Sharp Liquor Store” in De Soto.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard Wallace, one son Bill Wallace, one sister Donna Marie Sartain and two grandsons Billy Runyon and Joe Wallace. Survivors include her children Sharon Earley and husband Dan of Blue Springs, MO, Richard Wallace and Pat Foster of Pleasant Hill, MO, Cookie Long and husband Darrell of Gravois Mills, MO, Elwin Wallace of the home, Patty Bateson of Linwood, KS, one sister Norma Jean Gast and husband Steve of Easton, KS, 13 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
