John Dale Cooper

John Dale Cooper, age 86, of Kansas City, KS passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Sweetlife of Rosehill Assisted Living in Shawnee, KS. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Maywood Community Church in Kansas City, KS with burial to follow in Maywood Cemetery in Kansas City, KS. Friends may call at the visitation from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 11, at the church. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Maywood Cemetery Fund or the Maywood Boy Scout Troop #304.
Dale was born on January 13, 1928 in Kansas City, KS and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Washington Rural High School in Kansas City, KS in 1946 and was a WWII US Army Veteran serving in Korea. He retired after working for over 30 years from the Bendix Corporation in 1983. He was a member for over 60 years at Maywood Community Church, where he served in many leadership positions. He volunteered for many years in the Boy Scouts as Troop Leader of Troop #304 and as a District Leader for the Heart of America District, receiving the Silver Beaver award in 1988. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years M. Irene Cooper in 2005 and is survived by his 3 children: Sue Anne Breedlove and her husband Larry of Kansas City, KS; Denise Mancuso and her husband Greg of Kansas City, MO and Brian D. Cooper and his wife Joni of Oshkosh, WI. 8 Grandchildren, and 4 Great-Grandchildren. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Sweetlife and Gentiva Hospice.
