Mary Ulmer

Mary E. Ulmer, age 92, of Bonner Springs, Kansas went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 1st, 2015 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Funeral Mass Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 10th, at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with burial to follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:00 a.m. Monday morning at the church and the family will receive friends following the Rosary until the Mass Service. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church or the Kansas City Hospice House, both in care of the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home.

Mary was born on October 14, 1922 in Kansas City, Kansas the second of two children born to Patrick and Frances (Dooley) Malloy. She grew up in the St. Peters area of Kansas City, Kansas, graduating from Ward High School in the class of 1940 and married her high school sweetheart, Ernst Ulmer in 1942. Mary’s life was filled with art and beauty. She supported her husband working as his agent and marketing his artwork locally and internationally. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her beautiful home in the countryside west of Bonner Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Ernst Ulmer in 2009. Survivors include her four children;
Dan Ulmer, Connie Breidenthal, Steve Ulmer, Kurt Ulmer, and their spouses. One brother, Jim Malloy and wife Sandy of Ozawkie, KS.
Two sisters; Dorothy Reihle of Olathe, KS. and Margaret Schenk of Toledo, OH., 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
