JoAnn Tickles 1947 - 2015 Linwood

JoAnn Tickles, age 67 of Linwood, Kansas passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015 after a lengthy battle with Dementia. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday also at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, those can be mailed to the Funeral Home.
JoAnn was born on August 1, 1947 in Columbus, Georgia. After graduating High School she joined the US Navy, serving during the Vietnam Era. While based in San Francisco, CA., she met her husband, of 40 years, Rex A. Tickles. After a long career as an office manager, she retired from CDI in Kansas City, KS. JoAnn was a member and past President of the Fraternal order of Eagles, Ladies Auxiliary #87 of Kansas City, KS. In her retirement she provided care for her grandchildren and volunteered at the Eagles Hall. JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband Rex A. Tickles in 2012, her parents Archie and Mary Frances Polk and her father Forrest Brittingham. Survivors include her children Katrina Dinkel (Brent) of Shawnee, KS., Lucas Tickles (Jami) of Basehor, KS., and Martha Early (David) of Columbus, GA., three siblings Glenda Hinkle (Larry) of Pioneer, OH, Bruce Brittingham (Diane) of Columbus, GA., and Becky Parker (Bert) of Canyon City, CO. Mother-in-law, Nelda Polk of Long Beach, MS., Brother-in-law Chuck Tickles (Debbie) of Lenexa, KS., Sister-in-laws Dortha Hill (Maurice Clark) of Parkville, MO., Loretta Cunningham (Leon) of Basehor, KS., Frances Rudder (Wayne) of Pikeville, KY., and Yvonne Tickles of Shawnee, KS. Five grandchildren MacKenzie, Carter, Brandon, Zack and Emily, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends that will miss her greatly.
