George R. Bartko, Jr 1944 - 2015 Basehor, KS

“Georgie” Bartko, 71, of Basehor, KS went home to be with the Lord on Mon., Sept. 14, 2015 while surrounded by his loving family at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am, Thurs., Sept. 17 at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Basehor, with burial to follow in the Holy Angels Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Thurs. morning, prior to the service also at the church with a Rosary being prayed at 10:40 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Holy Angels Catholic Church.
Georgie was born on March 24, 1944 in Kansas City, KS., the eldest of seven children born to George & Barbara (Kolich) Bartko, Sr. He was a 1962 graduate of the St. Joseph Military Academy in Hays, KS., and had worked at Miller-Cooper Ink for 31 years and later Ameristar Casino for 10 years. His hobbies included working in his yard and garden, cooking BBQ and cutting wood with his friends. George was a lifelong catholic and an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Michael Anthony Bartko. Survivors include his wife of 51 years; Gretchen Bartko of the home. Three children; Kim Helm and husband Greg of Fountain Hills, AZ., Kelly Urbani and husband Michael of Conway, AR., and Mickey Bartko of the home. Five siblings; Barbara Williamson, Marilyn Kiernan, Pat Bartko, Philip Bartko and Linda Saunders. Five grandchildren Jordan & Taylor Helm, Jacob Lampe, Caleb Urbani and Spencer Ogden and a host of extended family and friends.
