The winter sports season got under way Monday when high school teams in the state could officially start practices. Sophomores Amanda Berry and Lindsey Stanbrough of the Bonner Springs girls` basketball team used a practice net to go through passing drills during the Bravettes first practice. The season will tip off for the Bonner Springs teams on Dec. 1 at Basehor-Linwood.
A Kansas City, Mo., racecar driver brought his ARCA Series stock car to the Kansas Speedway Tuesday in conjunction with the official announcement that the ARCA Re/Max Series and Winston West Series would race in a double-header opening day, June 2.
Bonner Springs High School Assistant Principal Jim Soper talks to students last week during a Veteran`s Day ceremony at the school. Prior to becoming an educator, Soper served 27 years in the military.

“Actually, we’ve spent more time outside lately working hardcore on our backyard doing some major landscaping. Lots of water breaks helped us through it. Since being outside so much, the warm weather doesn’t phase me anymore.”
