Jamie Istas, right, owner of the Pink Zebra Boutique, explains to a patron about the second annual “Cocktails for Cure” fundraiser tha she played host to Thursday, Oct. 2 at her store, 221 Oak St. Attendees could purchase tickets or donate money to attend the event, which was then donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast cancer fund. Istas said of her idea for the fundraiser, “So many women are affected by breast cancer and I thought I had a good outlet to help.” With drinks, food and plenty of shopping to entice people, Istas raised $1,000 for the charity. Also participating that night, by pledging 10 percent of their profits during the three-hour event was Miller’s Two, which donated $50; Provence on the Prairie, which donated $50; and Magnum Opus, which donated $60.
