John Walker of Bonner Springs displays the “diploma” he received as part of his “graduation” from nine weeks of proton beam radiation therapy in Oklahoma City. Walker, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in June, chose the treatment over more traditional forms after learning that it would cause less damage to other bodily organs and would yield fewer side effects.
