Don Haynes, of Oskaloosa, Kan., rubs brown sugar on a couple racks of ribs Saturday morning during the Tiblow Days "Smokin' on Oak" Barbecue contest. Haynes team, Chunkie Dunker's, is one of 13 teams participating in this first-year event.
Jason Nigles, right, of Bonner Springs, takes ribs out of his smoker to add additional seasonings a few hours before turning in his entry. Nigles is part of the team "Pig in a Poke," which also includes members Matt Soloario, middle, and Brian Nilges.
