Steven Vaught, 12, of Bonner Springs, had a headful of silly string as he and his dog "Mia" watched the parade along Oak Street. Parade clowns had sprayed his head.
Don Haynes, of Oskaloosa, Kan., rubs brown sugar on a couple racks of ribs Saturday morning during the Tiblow Days "Smokin' on Oak" Barbecue contest. Haynes team, Chunkie Dunker's, is one of 13 teams participating in this first-year event.
Jason Nigles, right, of Bonner Springs, takes ribs out of his smoker to add additional seasonings a few hours before turning in his entry. Nigles is part of the team "Pig in a Poke," which also includes members Matt Soloario, middle, and Brian Nilges.
