BSHS boys clinch thrilling 43-42 win against Basehor-Linwood

This Bonner Springs boys basketball team knows it’s not going to blow out many teams. It’s too young and it slows the game down too much for that. But by making the zone defense a mainstay in its gameplan a few weeks ago, Bonner Springs (8-9, 4-7) was able to squeak out a 43-42 victory against Basehor-Linwood (9-7, 7-3) Friday night.
Bonner Springs girls hold off Bobcats, 45-30

For a team that entered Friday on a seven-game losing streak, the Basehor-Linwood girls basketball team could take solace in a 45-30 defeat at Bonner Springs. Conversely, the Braves are glad they got out of that one unscathed. Instead of putting the team away after a 14-point halftime lead, the third quarter belonged to the Bobcats, 10-5. By then, the comeback had grown exhausting and Bonner Springs ran away with the game.

Mill Valley junior Wyatt Voorhes slashed his way to 25 points as his Jaguars defeated Bonner Springs, 64-42.

The Mill Valley girls basketball team unloaded on Bonner Springs, 47-21. Both teams entered the game 5-0 in conference play, but it was pretty much set after the first quarter.

To keep the tradition going, Streit won the job and he enters his first year as head coach. It’s an easy transition given the circumstances. He has known the players and system for years, conferred with some head coaching decisions as an assistant and has worked with the players all summer. The only speed bump is the loss of eight seniors, four of them starters.
Josiah Seaton balances state title, Olympic aspirations while wrestling at BSHS

One of the middle children, Josiah, is taking it to another level. The 114-pound junior placed fourth at the national wrestling competition at North Dakota in August, a year after placing eighth in the same tournament. As of now, he is fourth on the U.S. Future Olympian rankings in the Cadet category.
Braves fall to Spring Hill, 35-21, on senior night

Against Spring Hill on Thursday, a team who also had nothing to play for having already clinched the district, the Braves (3-6) ended their season with a 35-21 home loss. But they cared and played like it.
