Welder John McManigal, Holton, purchased a used Suzuki mini-truck that holds his welding rig and equipment. McManigal says he is saving money on gas and hopes local governments will make them highway legal. The little gas-efficient trucks from Japan are catching on in the U.S. and becoming popular replacements for regular trucks among farmers and people needing multi-functional vehicles.

Federal Aviation Administration personal and Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers work the scene of a plane crash about 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 24 near the intersection of Leavenworth County Road 1 and Cantrell Road south of Tonganoxie.
