Should Edwardsville pay to update its City Hall?

Oh, and I'd also like to add that most of Edwardsville looks like an overgrown jungle!!!! (Don't believe me, start at Newton and drive down 8th street to Beach.) The trees are horrendous! Perhaps we could use a program like the Bonner Beautiful Commission. I'd rather use my tax money on a committee that actually takes pride in our city and fix it up vs. just fix up city hall!!!

Should Edwardsville pay to update its City Hall?

Who are the owners of 507 Newton and what happened to them anyway??? I called to Realtor to inquire about buying the swing set and they came out and took their sign down about a week later and never called me back! Grrr. So apparently they gave up on them too!..........As far as city hall getting a face lift, I think they look fine and roomy in there when I go into to pay my outrageous trash water and sewer bill that I am forced to pay regardless if I use the service or not! Isn't that illegal? Water and sewer, yes I do use that, but I know that I can get cheaper trash service else where. Edwardsville says they have this contract with Deffenbaugh so that our city is nicer. What a crock of crap!!! I live in the vicinity of 8th and Newton, and have for the last 6 years. I can honestly say that our neighborhood has gone downhill over the last 2 or 3 years. I would rather spend money on fixing our ditches in this area so that the water drains properly and doesn't flood our yards every time we get a "light" rain! (Imagine what heavy rains are doing to us!). And I have to take my child to Bonner Springs or Shawnee to go to a decent park. The play ground equipment at the park is not friendly for 2 year olds. It is impossible for a parent to climb up on the thing with the child clutched in the other arm with out risking both of them from falling off. And has anyone heard of a park without SWINGS!!!!!!!!!! For the last 2 years, I have been asking city hall about this. Their reply: 'we are taking bids'. How freaking expensive is it to go get a damn swing set and put it in the park. Probably could do it for about $200 to $300. (Swings only). Or you can get a wooden one for about a grand. That sounds like a lot better use of our money then fixing up a building so that our incompetent city staff can be "more comfy". And if they are worried about the people who have to walk around the building to pay their tickets, then perhaps they shouldn't have broke the law in the first place!.....I can't wait to move far away from this city!!!!!!
