District 5 Senate challengers stake positions as election nears

Kultala continues to advocate higher taxes, higher electric rates and killing economic development by not backing the electric plant. Fitzgerald continues to take the common sense approach and is watching out for job protections, low taxes and controlling government spending. What I don't know for sure is whether Kultala's do-gooder mentality is just following the governor's lead or whether it's all hers. Either way she's out of step in looking out for my views and my rights.

Candidate accused of 'voter intimidation'

give me a break... Kultalla gets caught with 2 businesses willing to come forward and thinks she's not doing anything wrong or that it's "hogwash." If she's this arrogant already (or ignorant) I'd hate to see her if she ever got elected. If 2 business owners came forward, no doubt it's just the tip of the iceberg. But then she's used to dirty campaigning, as she trashed SEN Gilstrap from her own party in the primaries.

Lawmaker expects earful on gas prices during recess

After steadfastly obstructing the energy bill for months with the rest of her party I'm glad Ms Boyda is finally hearing an "earful" from her constituents. I've been writing her for months about this (and routinely ignored). It's not surprising to me that she seems more open to drilling and solving the energy crisis now that it's election time and HER "job" is on the line. Last election she promised change and boy has she kept her promise-- I didn't think I'd be paying double for gas in just 2 years that the democrats with Boyda have taken charge. But then it makes sense, Sebelius and her crew want to do a similar thing with electricity-- doubling our costs to chase after a fictional global warming hoax.

Kultala beats Gilstrap

The article is right about Sen Gilstrap. Even his opponent acknowledges he's a nice man (now that she's trounced him in the election). He represented the people of the district well-- always respectful of their wishes-- all of which were pretty conservative-- he never voted for a tax increase and always on the look out for education and Kansas jobs (like the power plant expansion would have brought.) Kultala, voting the way the Governor wants won't do that but the Democrats have bought their choice.

It's time for someone new alright, but it needs to be Steve Fitzgerald who will vote much like Gilstrap did BUT will be part of the Senate majority and so will actually get things done for our district and town. Kultala, however nice or not nice, will be a novice back-bencher mouthpiece for the Governor in the Senate-- no committees and no power whatsoever.

Democrats' new day

So let me get this straight... Sebelius thinks that Democrat party legislators like ours (Mark Gilstrap) shouldn't be fiscal conservatives, shouldn't live their faith (Gilstrap is Roman Catholic), and shouldn't represent his constituents but should merely be a lackey/puppet of hers? Guess that's her plan with this Kathy Kultallah lady. Since the Govornor wants change and I want a representative that isn't afraid to stand up to the Governor's power I guess it's time for a real change and vote the republican candidate Fitzgerald in. Heck, he might actually get something done for our district since he'll be in the majority party instead of on the Senate back bench all the time like the rest of the Dem senators.
