yea they forgot to say if the fireman does not want to be a policeman, a job he is not trained for and is entirely different than firefighting, then that fireman will get laid off. geez people who are these running this city , do they not know the difference in these jobs?????? maybe they need to get laid off .......
Do you think the people of edwardsville really want to spend money to fix up city hall (so people who pay their tickets don't have to walk around the building and be embarassed), while they are in the process of laying off two firemen. I would much rather know if I had a fire or a medical emergency, firemen/emts would be there right away. I just can't see doing improvements on city hall when you are in process of a budget crunch and have to lay off employees and ask employees to take less days off etc. I heard the mayor does not care that petitions were signed by people in Edwardsville who do not want to lay off their firemen.
I see they have a lot of ems calls, too bad they are getting rid of the firefighter-emt who was also in paramedic school, especially since edwardsville doesn't have mast anymore. I think the city council, mayor , and city administrator need to rethink the decision to lay off firefighters. If I had an ems emergency I would want an emt there within minutes. It could mean life or death having someone there who can provide life saving efforts.
City begins tackling 'perfect storm' of a budget

Should Edwardsville pay to update its City Hall?

On the record: Edwardsville Fire Department Calls
