Heard in Bonner: Playground upgrades

• City manager Jack Helin says the city will be purchasing new playground equipment to replace the older equipment between Fields 2 and 3 in Lions Park. The city is taking advantage of a 40 percent discount on the equipment, which will cost $10,118.90.

• The city has tentatively set a workshop to discuss the possibility of allowing collective bargaining with the Bonner lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police for the second council meeting in January.

• Barbara Bille, assistant to the city clerk, says she has a list of 31 volunteers to assist with the Snow Angels Program, in which volunteers clear snow from driveways for individuals who are challenged physically or financially in doing the work themselves. There are currently 56 homes that take part in the program, so the city would like to get a few more volunteers. Contact Bille at 667-1718 to volunteer.
