Heard in Bonner: Parks, pizza and another closing

• Skip Dobbs, director of Bonner parks and recreation, was recently elected as the 2012 president of Kansas City Metropolitan Parks and Recreation Director’s Association. The organization meets every other month to discuss trends and topics relative to the parks and recreation industry.

• Papa Murphy’s Pizza has been open since Nov. 14 but will have its grand opening the weekend of Dec. 15-18. The Bonner Springs-Edwardsville Chamber of Commerce will have a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16.

• I wrote that Sweet Repeats would be closing on Dec. 23 a few days ago, and now I’m sad to admit I hadn’t noticed that another downtown business has closed. But for those who haven’t been downtown recently (or who have and didn’t notice, like me), Freseros Mexican Restaurant, which first opened in 2009, closed the week of Nov. 28. No word on why… the last entry on their Facebook page was in August. I’ll let you know if I hear more.
