Week 10 (Playoffs-Round 1) Predictions (11.7.2014)
Last week: 5-1
Where Mike will be this week: Bonner Springs at St. Thomas Aquinas; Pittsburg at Mill Valley Be sure to follow me on Twitter for updates.
Bonner Springs (7-2) at St. Thomas Aquinas (6-3) After its disappointing showing against Mill Valley two weeks ago, Bonner Springs returned to form last week to shutout St. James and make the playoffs for the first time since 2011. The Braves meet at St. Thomas Aquinas team that is trying to replicate what volleyball and cross country (boys and girls) have done, and what soccer will probably do this weekend: Win a state title. Aquinas loves to run the ball out of the wishbone. For the Braves to be successful tonight, they need to be sound defensively, holding their position and making tackles.
St. Thomas Aquinas, 31, Bonner Springs 21
Mill Valley (5-4) vs. Pittsburg (8-1) We'll see if that tough schedule was worth it. The Jaguars play a Pittsburg team that topped St. Thomas Aquinas, who defeated MVHS in week one, last week. Mill Valley is playing some of its best football of the year right now.
Mill Valley 24, Pittsburg 20
SM North (2-7) at Olathe North (9-0) The Indians are back in the playoffs, but their stay won't be long. They were competitive for a half in a 41-14 week six loss to the Eagles, but this is the big time. SM North is still a few years away from doing damage in the late part of the season.
Olathe North 56, SM North 17
