Week 2 (9.11-12.2014) Predictions
I was average last week, and I'm not happy with that.
Last week: 3-3 Season: 3-3
Mill Valley (0-1) at Blue Valley Northwest (0-1), The Jaguars will look to get back on track after dropping its season-opening game to St. Thomas Aquinas last week. I can't see Mill Valley dropping two in a row, but this is a BVNW team that went 7-3 last season.
Mill Valley 27, BVNW 24
SM Northwest (0-1) at SM North (0-1) This is where I'll be this week. SMNW was shutout by defending 5A state champs Blue Valley last week. The Indians saw their losing streak extend to 20 games at the hands of SM South. I think SM North has three chances of breaking out of the slump, and I think this is one of those weeks — the other two coming in district play. I think Will Schneider throws for 185 yards and three scores.
SM North 24, SM Northwest 13
St. James (1-0) vs. Wyandotte (0-1) The Thunder were the only Shawnee team to notch a victory last week. They will have their hands full this week with Wyandotte's Antonio Moore. Nevertheless, I think SJA gets it done and improves to 2-0.
St. James 28, Wyandotte 20
Maranatha (0-1) at Arma-Northeast The Eagles fell 44-21 last week to Oswego. They were down 22-6 and cut it to 28-21. Maybe it was first game jitters, or maybe, because they're fielding 22 players, they were tired. Regardless, they'll figure it out at some point. Maybe this week.
Maranatha 27, Arma-Northeast 24
Bonner Springs (0-1) at Chanute This is the week Connor Byers picks up his first win as a starter for the Braves. He didn't get it last week at home against Eudora, but I think the two-hour drive to Chanute will be fruitful.
Bonner Springs 32, Chanute 20
